Christmas Break begins^
--MONTHLY NEWS--

Thanks so much for everyone's support of the Book Fair last week! It was a lot of fun and I hope that you and your children love their books!

*Cookie Exchange: To avoid an extra refreshment fee at the library, I thought it'd be fun to have a cookie exchange the day before the program. Please bring 10 of your favorite cookies on Tuesday, the 10th! I will distribute them all onto individual plates and wrap them up so that you can take them with you after the program is over the next day. Everyone will leave with a variety of a dozen cookies and there will be no mess for the library to clean up. Win-Win! :)

**Christmas Program @ 6pm @ the Southwest Branch Library 1950 W. 4800 S., Roy.
For the Christmas Program, I would like the children to wear best dress please. You and your family can wear whatever you'd like. :) Please feel free to invite grandparents and anyone else you'd like to this. The children will each have a short line that I'd like you to help them memorize. They'll get to practice it lots of times in school, but it'd be great when I hand those out if you could help your child practice. I also am looking for a small Christmas tree as part of the program. (i.e. anywhere from 2-4 feet) If any one has a little one they'd loan me for the program, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much! After the program is over, there will be a small craft that you can stay and do with your family if you'd like to. :)

^Christmas Break: No school December 24th-January 2nd. I'll see you on January 7th! Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

With much love,

Miss SueZan

Also, there will be NO SCHOOL December 12th and December 17th. Sorry, we will be on vacation with family in Washington! But I'll be back for our Christmas Party on December 20th. And since there is only 2 weeks total of preschool for December, tuition will only be $20 this month.

November News~

Hello! *The Tuesday before Thanksgiving will be a fun kitchen day for the kids. They are going to make homemade butter for your Turkey Day rolls and also pumpkin pies. We will be using some of the pumpkins from the patch and from our own preschool garden. If you would like to turn your own pumpkin from the field trip into a pie, here's the recipe I'll be using that Tuesday with the kids!

So Easy Pumpkin Pie
Cut pumpkin in half without stem. Scoop out seeds and strings. Place cut down foil lined baking sheet. Cover with foil. Bake @350 degrees until tender. (About 1 ½ hours) Cool. Scoop out flesh and mash with a hand mixer. Drain if too watery.
Beat together:
1 1/3 cup smooth mashed pumpkin
1 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 egg
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp ginger
(or if you don't have those, you can do 3 tsp pumpkin pie spice)
1 cup hot water

Pour into a 9 inch pie shell at Bake @ 375 for 55-65 minutes. (Center will still move slightly.) Cool and enjoy! Mashed pumpkin will hold 5 days in refrigerator.

Following the Weber County School District schedule, there will be no school on November 27th or 28th. Enjoy this time with your family and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

**Usborne Book Fair**

Help earn free books for the preschool while helping yourself get ready for the holidays!

Usborne books are a great addition to any library. There's so many fun and educational books and you can check them out at:
x3023.myubam.com

The Book Fair will be in my living room from 9:30-3:30 on Thursday, November 21st. After dropping off your child for preschool, go browse through some books and grab a little refreshment.

If there's a specefic book you'd like to see at the Book Fair, please call or text Shilene James, a friend of mine, who's in charge of it. 801.706.5016

Last, but not least, please save the date for our Christmas Program! It will be held December 11th at the Weber County Library, Southwest Branch on 4800 South in Roy.

Thank you!

*PUMPKIN PATCH
The children are so excited for the Pumpkin Patch Field Trip coming up on Thursday, October 10th for the P.M. group and Tuesday, October 22nd for the A.M. group! I will have a volunteer chaperone list up on the bulletin board in the preschool. So if you'd like to help drive, please sign it. Other children are welcome to join us too! All preschoolers entrance fee is already taken care of, as well as up to four chaperones. However, other siblings or friends brought will need to pay $4/person. (This includes a pumpkin, snack, and time to play in the activity zone afterwards.) Please be on time to the preschool (35 minutes earlier than the regular start time!  I.e. 9:25am for the morning class and 12:25pm for the afternoon class.

--You may also meet us at the farm if you prefer, but please let me know your plans so I don't leave anyone behind. Thanks! Black Island Farms: 3178 South 3000 West, Syracuse --

OTHER MONTHLY NEWS/REQUESTS
This month we'll be focusing on some colors and shapes. By dressing them in these colors or if you have clothes with certain shapes on them, it will help them to register the knowledge better. It is also a lot of fun for them to see that they are wearing the color of the day! Have fun with this! Also, please help reinforce colors and shapes at home, while you drive, etc. Test their knowledge and what they're learning. Give them choices with colors attached, i.e. “Would you like the red apple or the yellow banana?” You can also reinforce the letter of the day by trying to find it around you on billboards, street signs, or business signs. It doesn't have to be anything you go out of your way to do, but just in your everyday activities.

**I need 2 volunteers to help with games for our Halloween Party. That sign up sheet will be on the bulletin board next to the field trip sign up sheet.
Thank you so much! Have a great October and a happy and safe Halloween!

Miss SueZan
