Dear Parents,

When helping your child write their names, please use a capital for the first letter and lowercase for the rest. Also, make sure they are using the proper pencil strokes. (Always start at the top.) It will really help them in their penmanship. Thank you!

ITEMS TO SEND: Please send a bottle of liquid hand soap or antibacterial gel, a box of tissues or a roll of paper towels. Please make sure to write their names on all personal items. If sending a backpack, please make sure it is big enough to hold an 8x10 piece of paper without folding it.

SHOW AND TELL DAY: I will assign children on the calendar to bring home a show n' tell bag. It is to be brought back the next preschool day after receiving the bag. It will be a special experience, so please send an item in the bag that your child can hold up, pass around, and/or tell about. This is a good time to practice their language skills and be in front of the class “in the spotlight”. Please do not send toys, books, gum, or candy on any other day. Sending an item that starts with the letter, color, or subject of the week would be fabulous!

CLOTHING: I will try to be careful, but please remember that we will be playing, painting, gluing, etc. and school clothes are better for these than dress up clothes. Clothing should be comfortable and easy for your child to get in and out of when using the bathroom by themselves.

TREATS: I will have a snack bucket which the children will take turns bringing home for parents to fill and return the following preschool day. I will also list whose turn it is on the monthly calendar so that those who need to plan ahead will be able to. It is very fun and beneficial for the kids to coordinate the treat with what we are concentrating on that week, or something that starts with the letter of the week. Use your imagination—bring nutritional treats like string cheese and/or crackers, rice krispie treats, apple or orange slices, grapes, finger Jello, popcorn, pretzels, carrot sticks, yogurt, trail mix, etc. Please avoid candy whenever possible. If you need ideas, feel free to call me.

HOLIDAYS: In conjunction with Weber County School District schedule, there will be no preschool on or during scheduled district holidays. If you do not already have other school age children on this schedule, it will always be stated on the calendar sent home at the beginning of the month. All calendars will also be posted on www.learningbeespreschool2013.blogspot.com.

FIELD TRIPS: Field trip experiences are planned during the school year to enrich the curriculum and provide desirable first-hand experiences for the children. Field trips will also provide the motivational background for a great deal of discussion. By tying them into a “sound” concept of unit of study, they become an invaluable tool for learning! The law now specifies kids need to have a car/booster seat until they are 4 ft, 7 inches. If you will not be driving on our field trips please make sure to come a few minutes early to help get their car seat in the car. Some of the fun places we go are the Pumpkin Patch, the Nature Center, Papa Murphy's, and the Fire Station. Parents are always welcome on the field trip and younger siblings are welcome too, though sometimes may need to pay an individual entrance fee. (All field trips for students are covered in the registration fee.)

PRESCHOOL PAYMENTS AND TUITION: There is a $30.00 registration/supply fee which is due when enrolling your

child in preschool and takes care of the main supplies they will need for the entire school year. Tuition is $45.00 per month for the 2 day class and $60.00 for the 3 day class. Tuition is due the first week of each new month, and there will be no refunds or discounts for days missed unless special arrangements have been made. The preschool curriculum has been carefully planned for the entire school year to have your child attend an average of 4 weeks each month (3 weeks some months, 5 weeks others). Therefore, the charge is not on a daily attendance schedule, but monthly, so if your child misses any days during the month the tuition is still $45.00 (or $60.00 for the 3 day class). I'm happy to discuss payment options with you if need be. Thank you!!

PLEASE NOTE: Please be prompt dropping off and picking up your child. My primary concern is the best situation for your child. Circle time is a very important part at the beginning of our preschool time where I introduce the letter/concept etc. we will be focusing on that day. If your child is late, it is hard to back track and catch them up. On the pick up side of things, my daughter will be an afternoon kindergartener this coming school year and she needs to be there by 12:25. So as soon as preschool is over, I really need to get her ready and out the door. But, I understand that things happen sometimes (i.e. getting stuck at a train crossing), so if you'll be late, just text me. :) If you know in advance your child is going to miss preschool or they get sick, please call/text and let me know.

COMMUNICATION: Please feel free to call, text, or email me if you have questions, concerns, or hear something from your child that does not seem quite right. By keeping me in close communication, we can work together for a great school year for you, your child, and me. Some of the best suggestions or solutions have come from parents, so please call, text, or send a note anytime!

**EXTREMELY IMPORTANT**! Please DO NOT pull IN or OUT of the driveway for ANY reason while dropping off and picking up your child, and let anyone know who will be doing so. This will help avoid accidents because of children that couldn't be seen. Please come to the side door on the south side of the house. This is the main entrance to the preschool. Also, please do not let your child cross the street by themselves. Thank you so much for your help in keeping the kids safe!
