Graduation Program

I have had some pre-K teachers ask how I do my graduation program.  And though we are just starting a new year right now, I thought I'd post mine, so that other teachers may have the ability to use it, incorporate it into their own, or glean ideas.  I love sharing ideas! Enjoy.

Graduation Program Script

Welcome! We've had a wonderful school year! Learning, listening, sharing, and creating. We'd like to take you through our year in review to show you some of the highlights and fun things we learned at preschool. The children have been learning nursery rhymes as well throughout the year and each student will get a chance to recite one as we go through our months. We're going to start off with our Hello Song that we sing every day at circle time.

Here We Are Together
(Have the kids jump when their name is sung)
Here we are together, together, together. Here we are together in our school today! There's Eva, and Izak, and Rhia, and Bradley, and Skyley, and Grayson, and Embry, and Kaitlyn, and Aiden. Here we are together in our school today.
Miss Hailey: Izak will you come up and tell us about something we did in September
Izak: “In September we learned about Johnny Appleseed who planted lots of apple trees for people.”

2 Red Apples Poem
Way up high in the apple tree, two red apples smiled down at me. I shook that tree as hard as I could. Down came the apples, mmm...they were good!

Miss Hailey: Grayson, would you come up and recite Old King Cole for us?

Grayson: “Old King Cole was a merry old soul and a merry old soul was he. He called for his pipe, he called for his bowl, and he called for his fiddlers three.”

Miss Hailey: Thanks Grayson. That takes us on to October. Kaitlyn, will you please come up and tell us all about something we did in October?

Kaitlyn: “In October we went to the Pumpkin Patch! It was so much fun!”

Miss Hailey: Another thing we did in October was learn about our five senses.

5 Senses
(Tune: Where is thumbkin?)
5 senses, 5 senses, we have them, we have them. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. We have five. We have five.

Miss Hailey: Eva will now come and recite Little Miss Muffet for us that we learned in October.

Eva: Little Miss Muffet

Miss Hailey: The kids also really loved to sing this Halloween song.

I'm a Mean Old Witch
I'm a mean old witch with a hat. And I ride on a broom with my cat. And my shoes are pointy and my chin is too, so you better watch out! Or I might scare you. I'm a mean old witch with a hat. Do-do-do-d0-do-do....BOO!!

Miss Hailey: Next comes November. In November, we learned about people homes and animal homes. We planted tulip bulbs in the preschool garden. And finished learning about colors. The children thought this next song was fun.
Y-E-L-L-O-W spells yellow
(Tune: If you're happy and you know it)
Y-E-L-L-O-W spells yellow, Y-E-L-L-O-W spells yellow. Like the early morning sun when the day has just begun. Y-E-L-L-O-W spells yellow. Daffodils and baby ducks are yellow. Scrambled eggs and lemonade are yellow. I like the smiley face that's yellow. He is such a happy fellow! Y-E-L-L-O-W spells yellow.

Or Optional
I had a Tiny Turtle
I have a tiny turtle. His name is Tiny Tim. I put him in the bath tub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap. And now he's sick in bed with a bubble in his throat. (Strum lips with finger singing the melody to the end.) Hiccup!”

Miss Hailey: Grayson, could you come up and tell us what else we did in November for Thanksgiving?

Grayson: “In November we made pumpkin pie from the pumpkins we got at the pumpkin patch!”

Pilgrims came to America
(Tune: Mary had a little Lamb)
The pilgrims came to America, America, America, the Pilgrims came to America a long, long time ago.

They sailed on the Mayflower, the Mayflower, the Mayflower. They sailed on the Mayflower a long, long time ago.

They made friends with the Indians, the Indians, the Indians. They made friends with the Indians a long, long time ago.

They planted seeds, the corn grew tall, the corn grew tall, the corn grew tall. They planted seeds, the corn grew tall a long, long time ago.

They had a great Thanksgiving feast, Thanksgiving feast, Thanksgiving feast. They had a great Thanksgiving feast a long, long time ago.”

Miss Hailey: Onto our next month. Embry is now going to come and tell us what she loved about December.

Embry: “In December we made ornaments for our Christmas trees. I love Christmas!”
Miss Hailey: I love Christmas too, Embry. Izak, will you come up and recite our next nursery rhyme?

Little Jack Horner- Izak Cox

Peppermint Stick Poem
Oh I took a lick of my peppermint stick and I thought it tasted yummy. It used to be on my Christmas tree, but I like it better in my tummy.

Miss Hailey: Great job! Now Bradley will you come up and recite your nursery rhyme?

Bradley: Jack Be Nimble

Miss Hailey: In January we learned about calendars and patterns. These are couple of the calendar songs that we sang at circle time each day.
Days of the Week
Months of the Year
(Have the kids jump when they get to their bday month in the song!)

Miss Hailey: We also learned a lot about numbers, like in the nursery rhyme that Embry will recite for us. Embry, will you please come up and do 1,2, Buckle My Shoe please?

Embry: 1,2 Buckle My Shoe

Miss Hailey: Also in January, we started something new called the value of the month. Each month the children learned a value and the sign in sign language to go along with it. Skyley, will you please come and tell us about January's value of the month?

Skyley: “In January we learned about Respect. [Show the sign for respect.] Respect is following the Golden Rule. Treat others how you want to be treated.”

3 Kind Mice
(Tune: Three Blind Mice)
3 Kind Mice, 3 Kind Mice, See how they help, See how they help. They always share their corn and cheese. They always say thanks and please. They remember it's not nice to tease. Three kind mice. Three kind mice.

Miss Hailey: From February to May we learned about responsibility, integrity, citizenship, and cooperation. Rhia will you come up and tell us about February's value of the month?

Rhia: “In February we learned about responsibility. [Show the sign for responsibility] Following directions and doing what we say we'll do.”

Miss Hailey: Aiden will you come up and tell us about the field trip we went on in February?

Aiden: We went to Papa Murphy's and made pizza. Then we came back to the school and ate it! It was delicious!
Miss Hailey: Thank you Aiden. I would now love it if Skyley would come and recite the nursery rhyme we learned in February.

Skyley Musselman- Queen of Hearts

Miss Hailey: Great job Skyley. In March we did some little plays at school like the 3 Little Pigs. Here is a song we learned about that story

Three Little Pigs Song
(Tune: Three Blind Mice)
(Do small actions, like, hold up 3 fingers for the number three, and flex your muscles for “strong enough”)
Three Little Pigs, Three Little Pigs
Each built a house, each built a house.
The big bad wolf came and huffed and puffed.
The straw house and stick house weren't so tough.
Only the brick house was strong enough for Three Little Pigs,Three Little Pigs.

Miss Hailey: Great job you guys. Heading into March, Aiden, can you come up and tell us Baa Baa Black Sheep?
Aiden- Baa Baa Black Sheep

Miss Hailey: Thanks Aiden! Bradley can you now come up and tell us where we went on a field trip in March?

Bradley Bills—We went to the fire station. It was awesome!

I'm a Little Firefighter
(Tune: I'm a little teapot)
I'm a little firefighter on the go!
Here is my helmet, here is my hose.
When I see a fire, hear me shout!
Turn on the water and put the fire out!

Miss Hailey: Kaitlyn, could you please come up and tell us about the 3 Men in a Tub

Kaitlyn: 3 Men in a Tub

Miss Hailey: Great job Kaitlyn! In April we learned about Opposites. We will now sing a fun opposite song for you.

Opposite Song
(Tune: Jingle Bells)
Hot and cold, new and old, opposites I know. Fat and thin, out and in, top and bottom, high and low—ohhhhh! Smile and frown, up and down, loud and quiet sounds. Wet and dry, hello, goodbye, and the shapes of square and round.

Miss Hailey: And just this month, we have had the opportunity to watch something pretty amazing happen. Eva, can you come up and tell us about that?

Eva: “In May our caterpillars turned into butterflies! It even stood on my hand before flying away. I loved it.”

The Fuzzy Caterpillar
(Tune: Itsy Bitsy)
The Fuzzy caterpillar, curled upon a leaf. Spun her little chrysalis and then she fell asleep. While she was sleeping, she dreamed that she could fly. And later when she woke up, she was a butterfly.

Miss Hailey: Great job kids! That completes our Year in Review. We've learned and grown so much. I have really enjoyed being their teacher. Now before I give them their graduation certificates I am going to have them come sit with their families so they can watch our end of year slide show. Then I will gather them together to get on their hats and cross the stage!

Slide Show

Graduation Walk
Gather kids to the back of the room, put on hats. Press play for Pomp and Circumstance and then run to the stage to begin calling each student one by one to come up and get their certificate. Once they are all on stage, have them sing

The Goodbye Song
(Tune: twinkle twinkle)
Goodbye, Goodbye everyone! I sure hope that you had fun! Tomorrow is another day. We will laugh and sing and play. Good bye, Good bye, everyone! I sure hope that you had fun.

Miss Hailey: I present to you the Learning Bees' preschool class of 2015!
Have them throw their hats up in the air. Thank all for coming! :)

Side note: Some of my kids wanted to dance all over the stage during practice. I told them that if they would keep their feet planted by their chair til the end, that I would put on “Celebrate Good Times” at the end and they could dance to their hearts' content. It worked and they loved the music!

I wish you the best in your graduation program! :)  Have fun.
