April's calendars :)

I love teaching preschool and each month has a favorite unit for me. But I think my favorite unit of the entire year has to be “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” During the months of April and May, we are going to observe real caterpillars make the amazing transformation into butterflies. It is the coolest thing ever! And just so you know, this is also a project you can do at home if you wanted to look into it. I order everything I need through www.nature-gifts.com.  Please scroll down to your child's class calendar to read the monthly news!

APRIL NEWS
Value of the Month: It's interesting to me how all of the values seem to fall back into the first value introduced, RESPECT. Responsibility, cooperation, and citizenship have a lot to do with respect for others and for ourselves. Our Value of the month of April is Integrity. “Being honest. Knowing the difference between right and wrong and having the courage to do what is right, even when it is not easy to do so.” We will learn the sign for Integrity as well as read books and discuss the value during snack time.
*Bubble Fun Park Day Field Trip: We will be having a blast at the park enjoying a little snack, play time, lots of bubble fun, and squirt gun art. We did this for the first time last year and the kids loved it! Everyone is welcome! If you would like to volunteer to drive and/or help out with some of the activities, please put your name on the list in the preschool. We will be going to Loy Blake Park (550 N. 3500 W., West Point) :) It'll be great!
May's Field Trip: On May 2nd, we'll be going to the new Southwest Branch library for a group tour and story time.

Sight words: We will continue working on all that has been introduced and adding just two new words this month—help and to. Past words that we've worked on are: in, I, is, it, big, we, up, look, and, jump, go, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, the, me, for, said, little, run, and play.
Calling all photos! I'm creating a fun slide show for graduation night and would LOVE for you to send me photos from the first day of school, field trips, the Christmas Program, class parties, etc. You can text, email, Facebook, or upload to a site such as Shutterfly and share the album with me. Thanks for your help in pulling this off! My email, if that is the route you choose, is zaranwrap@gmail.com. Please get them to me by April 30th. Thank you!

Picture Day: On Apr 27th, we'll be doing class photos and individual shots that will go in their graduation gift! You'll also get the digital copies. :)

Preschool Graduation: Just in case you didn't see it on last month's calendar, Preschool Graduation will be held at the awesome new Southwest Branch Library in Roy on Monday, May 23rd! Please feel free to invite grandparents and other family members, etc. It'll be really fun and I'll have some cute displays of the kids' work throughout the year along with a slide show of our adventures.
Have a beautiful April!
