Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The Christmas season is here!  I hope it will be a wonderful time for you and your family.  I'll just share a favorite quote of mine that ties in with the season“For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child Himself.” ― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

--MONTHLY NEWS--

Thanks so much for everyone's support of the Book Fair last month! It was a lot of fun and I hope that you and your children love their books!

*Cookie Exchange: To avoid an extra refreshment fee at the library, I thought it'd be fun to have a cookie exchange the day of the program. Please bring a dozen of your favorite cookies before or after school on Wednesday, the 17th! I will distribute them all onto individual plates and wrap them up so that you can take them with you after the program is over that night. Everyone will leave with a dozen different cookies and there will be no mess for the library to clean up. Win-Win! :)

**Christmas Program @ the Southwest Branch Library 1950 W. 4800 S., Roy.
For the Christmas Program, I would like the children to wear best dress please. You and your family can wear whatever you'd like. :) Please feel free to invite grandparents and anyone else you'd like to this. The children will each have a short line that I'd like you to help them memorize. They'll get to practice it lots of times in school, but it'd be great when I hand those out if you could help your child practice. I also am looking for a small Christmas tree as part of the program. (i.e. anywhere from 2-4 feet) If any one has a little one they'd loan me for the program, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much! After the program is over, there will be a small craft that you can stay and do with your family if you'd like to. :)

~Christmas Village in Ogden. We will have a fun tour of Christmas Village given by none other than Mrs. Claus at 10am on December 19th. We will meet at the school at 9:30 so that we can get everyone buckled up. I need two volunteer drivers/chaperones. This is free for any parents who want to join us. If you would like to bring other children it's free for them too, I just need to let them know a headcount by Dec. 12th. Please sign up on the bulletin board inside the preschool. You may also meet us in front of Santa's Castle (by the amphitheater) at Christmas Village at 10 if you prefer. Please let me know your plan so I don't leave anyone behind. Thank you!

^Christmas Break: No school from Dec.23rd-Jan 5th. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

November News~

Hello! *The last class before Thanksgiving will be a fun kitchen day for the kids. They are going to make homemade pumpkin pie filling. We will be using some of the pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and from our own preschool garden. If you would like to turn your own pumpkin from the field trip into a pie, here's the recipe I'll be using that day with the kids!

So Easy Pumpkin Pie
Cut pumpkin in half without stem. Scoop out seeds and strings. Place cut side down on foil lined baking sheet. Cover with foil. Bake @350 degrees until tender. (About 1 ½ hours) Cool. Scoop out flesh and mash with a hand mixer. Drain if too watery.
Beat together:
1 1/3 cup smooth mashed pumpkin
1 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 egg
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp ginger
(or if you don't have those, you can do 3 tsp pumpkin pie spice)
1 cup hot water

Pour into a 9 inch pie shell at Bake @ 375 for 55-65 minutes. (Center will still move slightly.) Cool and enjoy! Mashed pumpkin will hold 5 days in refrigerator.

Following the Weber County School District schedule, there will be no school November 26th-28th. Enjoy this time with your family and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

**Usborne Book Fair**

Help earn free books for the preschool while helping yourself get ready for the holidays!

Usborne books are a great addition to any library. There's so many fun and educational books and you can check them out at:
x3023.myubam.com

The Book Fair will be in my living room from 9:30-3:30 on Wednesday, November 19th and 9:30-3:30 on Thursday, November 20th. After dropping off your child for preschool, go browse through some books and grab a little refreshment.

If there's a specific book you'd like to see at the Book Fair, please call or text Shilene James, a friend of mine, who's in charge of it. 801.706.5016

______________________

Last, but not least, please save the date for our Christmas Program! It will be held December 17th at the Weber County Library, Southwest Branch on 4800 South in Roy.

Thank you!

Miss SueZan and Miss Hailey
