May calendars! Graduation time is here! :)

Please be sure to scroll down to your child's class and read the monthly news following his/her calendar.  It is different for each group this month.  I've so enjoyed this year and can't believe it's already time for graduation . But they sure are ready!!  I really do cry the last day of school because I feel like I've grown so close to them.  I just want to keep following up with them like an aunt.  I know each will do great things.  Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

Kent's Grocery Store: Normal Preschool hours!

Take a behind the scenes tour of the grocery store. The kids will have fun seeing how things work at the store. I could use a couple of moms to help drive and herd. :)

Value of the Month: Cooperation

“Listening and paying attention to others, sharing and taking turns, doing a fair share of the work, acknowledging the contributions of others; serving others with patience and a positive attitude; working well with others.” We'll be discussing this and reviewing the other values during snack time.

Picture Day

We'll be taking individual and group pictures on May 7^th. Please have your child wear their preschool t-shirt that day.

End of Year Assessments

I'm looking forward to conducting final assessments this month. I plan to do these 20 minutes prior to preschool starting. Or 5 minutes after preschool is over. You are welcome to stay if you'd like or to just drop your child off at his/her appointment time. Please sign up for a time slot on the bulletin board. Please sign up by April 30th so I can let my babysitter know what times I need her.

Preschool Graduation-Wednesday, May 20th

Yes, I can't believe it either. The time has arrived for Preschool Graduation! I've loved having these kiddos in my class and am looking forward to showing you our year in review. Graduation will be held at the same library that our Christmas Program was held at--the Southwest Branch: 1950 W. 4800 S., Roy. Each child's All About Me Poster and a few extra things will be on display for you to see before and after the program. Each child will have two speaking parts in the program itself, too. I will send these home the first week in May so you can help your child practice.

Attendees' dress is casual, but I would like best dress for the graduates please.

Please invite family and friends! All are welcome!

Don't forget the Friday after graduation we'll be having our goodbye party at the school during normal school hours. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to teach your children. It's been a wonderful year.

Nature Center Field Trip: 966 W. 12^th Street, Ogden

Please note the preschool time change for this day!

Thursday April 30th at 12:30. Our time slot at the Nature Center begins at 1pm. So we need to leave the school by 12:45. A majority of the field trip is outside so please dress for the weather with good walking shoes. Thanks in advance to the moms who have volunteered to drive; your admission is paid for. All other parents and siblings are welcome to join us at the Nature Center, it's just $5/person 2 and older.

APRIL NEWS

I love teaching preschool and each month has a favorite unit for me. But I think my favorite unit of the entire year has to be “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” During the month of April, we are going to observe real caterpillars make the amazing transformation into butterflies. It is the coolest thing ever! And just so you know, this is also a project you can do at home if you wanted to look into it. I order everything I need through www.nature-gifts.com.

Value of the Month:I have to say I have loved the introduction of the Value of the month. I think the kids have enjoyed it too. It's interesting how all of the values seem to fall back into the first value introduced, RESPECT. Responsibility, self-control, and citizenship have a lot to do with respect for others and for ourselves. Our Value of the month of April is Integrity. “Being honest. Knowing the difference between right and wrong and having the courage to do what is right, even when it is not easy to do so.” We will learn the sign for Integrity as well as read books and discuss the value during snack time.

Bubble Fun Park Day: We will be having a blast at the park enjoying a little picnic, play time, and lots of bubble fun. This is a first time ever field trip, but I'm sure it will be fun! Everyone is welcome! If you would like to volunteer to drive and help out with some of the activities, please put your name on the list in the preschool. We will be going to Clinton City Park 1500 W. 2300 N. Clinton

Sight words: We will continue working on all that has been introduced and adding just two new words this month—help and to. Past words that we've worked on are: in, I, is, it, big, we up, look, and jump, go, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, the, me, for, said, little, run, and play.
