News
Spring
is on it's way (and I guess has been for the last couple of months
since we've had no snow). The tulips and daffodils the kids planted
in the preschool garden boxes are already well on their way! We've
got some very fun educational activities planned for the next couple
of months.
*Fire
Station Field Trip: One of my favorite field trips of the school
year is coming up on March 13th! We'll be going to the Fire Station
at 5051 South 1900 West in Roy. Preschool will be at the normal times
of 10-12. Wear your school t-shirt if you'd like to, and please be
sure to leave your child with a booster/car seat if you do not plan
to drive. We will need two drivers, so if you'd like to join us,
please sign up on the bulletin board. Any other parents and siblings
may join us this day, too. It's free!
Value
of the month:
Citizenship: “Using
the rights and privileges one has a member of the community to make
that community a better place; being socially responsible; obeying
the laws and rules; doing one's part for the common good; respect
authority; helping your community by volunteering service.” I will
teach them the sign that goes along with this and discuss it with
books and conversation during snack time.
Sight
words for March:the, me, for, said, little, run, play
Just
as a reminder: In January we covered I, in, is, it, big, we, up. In
February we covered and, look, jump, go, Spring, Summer, Fall, and
Winter.. If you want to practice this at home, this is
how we do it in school on flashcards: “This is the word 'up'. What
is it? They respond 'up.' Eventually they will be telling you the
words without you telling them. So if you happen to be reading books
together and you see one of these words, just see if they can tell
you what it is. :)
During
assessments last month, I also noticed that I need to work more on
number recognition with the children. It would be wonderful if you
could help me with this by asking your children what number they see
on signs, in books, on boxes, food containers, etc.
A
big heads up! Preschool Graduation will be held at the Southwest
Library in Roy on Wednesday, May 20th! We will have a pizza party
at school on Friday, the 22nd for the last day of school.
Thanks
for everything! Hope you have a great March!

SueZan
